MMIL5

Did you hear that bump? Another offer of the asking price for the old home has been deposited.
MMIL's getting very excited, but feeling a little overwhelmed with the amount of sorting to be done.
We're trying to encourage her to do as much as she can BEFORE moving! MMIL's suggesting she would have more time to bring the stuff down here and THEN sort it!

She has a cupboard full of old Christmas/birthday cards, saved from the last 10 years or so, nothing of value. MMIL's worried about all the shredding she has to do; she says she can't put the cards in for re-cycling because they all have names in - they're pesonal!!

MMIL has this vision of rows of people in some huge warehouse hand-sorting items and being unable to recycle 'personal' cards. She's fastidiously removing all traces of her name on everything she's chucking out. She's right to be careful: her bank have written to her this week to confess that some scum-bag has her credit card details and has been spending freely for the past week or so! I warned her she shouldn't have joined that online poker club!

MMIL3

The smart money has shifted; there we were thinking it was going to be a long journey. It might yet be so, but........a flurry of activity at the old house has MMIL thinking her prayers are being answered.
There's an offer of the asking price 'on the table', and while a survey is being arranged, the interest is evident in the steady flow of viewings! One of the viewees, we learn, is sitting in a good position, (in the south-facing window with cup of tea and a chocolate eclaire, enjoying the lovely weather we're having)  with no property dispose of since she's in rented accommodation. MMIL asked, 'What kind of person can consider paying hundreds of thousands of pounds for a house, when they live in rented accommodation!' Once agian we can see where MMIL's coming from!
For our part we're thinking we'd better get our skateson!  Today we've been looking at bungalows in the villages. Mind you, a sunny day like today could make anything attractive.
MMIL thinks a brand new house would be nice! There's no stopping her now! How will her furniture look in a brand-spanking new house? NO, DON'T answer that! MMIL's been to the tip again!
